EDI Information

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Information
As part of the Electric Discount and Energy Competition Act of New Jersey, gas and electric utilities are required to support EDI standards. EDI is a statewide protocol of electronic data and business standards. NJNG supports both EDI and non-EDI transactions.

How a supplier chooses to bill their customers determines the type of EDI transactions they can use.

Suppliers who use the utility consolidated or dual billing options can retrieve usage history, enrollment and receive billing transactions through EDI.

Suppliers who use supplier consolidated billing can retrieve usage history and enroll customers through EDI.

NJNG offers EDI testing twice a year. If you are interested in EDI testing, please send an e-mail to NaturalSolutions@njng.com.

In addition, NJNG offers non-EDI transactions to enable suppliers to perform account maintenance.

Energy Consultants
Energy Consultants who have been licensed by the BPU can retrieve customer usage history. This can be done through EDI or as a non-EDI transaction. Licensed Energy Suppliers are encouraged to contact NJNG by sending an e-mail to NaturalSolutions@njng.com.
