| How long will it take to get my natural gas service installed? | ||
| If a gas main is adjacent to your property, the new service waiting period is about four to six weeks. | ||
| Will the installation of my gas service line disrupt my property? | ||
| Your property will experience some disruption; however, when the installation crew completes its work, they will leave your property clean and in order. Please note that it is your responsibility to mark the location of all underground sprinklers, septic and oil tanks, and other underground facilities you own and/or maintain, before gas service is installed. | ||
| Does New Jersey Natural Gas charge to install a new gas service? | ||
| In most cases, the service line is installed free of charge; however, we will perform a field evaluation to make that confirmation. There may be a street opening permit fee required by your township that you will need to pay. Your marketing consultant will collect that fee from you, if it applies. | ||
| Once my service line is installed from the street, is there a charge for setting the gas meter? | ||
| A $15 "account opening" charge will appear on your first bill. This charge covers the cost of setting up a new account. | ||
| How often will my gas meter be read? | ||
| New Jersey Natural Gas reads meters every other month and doesn't read meters from May 15 to September 15 due to low usage during the summer. During months when we don't read your meter, you will receive a calculated bill. The company adjusts for any difference between the calculated use and actual use after the next actual meter reading. | ||
| Does New Jersey Natural Gas offer budget billing? | ||
| Yes. You can help even out your energy bills by signing up for the Budget Plan. Simply pay the "Budget Option" amount that appears on your monthly gas bill. | ||
