We can help prevent unnecessary discontinuation of gas service at your rental property through our Landlord Notification Program.* By using the program you can make arrangements to place natural gas service in your name whenever a tenant calls us to turn off service or if service is scheduled to be turned off due to the delinquency of a tenant's payment. There are three types of notification to choose from:

Full Service Notification
Under this option, the account is transferred to the landlord when a tenant contacts NJNG to have natural gas service discontinued and the next tenant has not requested service. Also, if the tenant's gas service is to be discontinued because of payment delinquency, the account will be transferred to the landlord. The landlord assumes full responsibility for payment after the service has been transferred to the landlord's name.

Regular Service Notification
With this type of notification, the natural gas account will be transferred to the landlord when a tenant contacts NJNG to discontinue service and the next tenant has not requested service.

Limited Service Notification
As another option, NJNG will attempt to notify the landlord of the turn-off by letter when a tenant contacts NJNG to discontinue service and the next tenant has not requested service or the tenant's service has been discontinued as a result of nonpayment. The landlord should always ensure that NJNG has a current address and telephone number.
