New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) has installed Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices on a majority of Monmouth County natural gas meters.* An AMR is a small transmitter attached to your natural gas meter that allows our technicians to simply drive by your home to "read" your meter.

The AMR will virtually eliminate the need for NJNG to access your property for meter readings, so you'll no longer need to make special arrangements on scheduled read days. Your natural gas bills will reflect monthly actual readings, which means fewer estimated bills. And, you won't need to read your own meter to avoid an estimated bill.

*If your meter is obstructed (under a low lying deck, in a locked shed or garage, etc.), please click here to send us an e-mail describing your meter location. Please include the address where the obstructed meter is located as well as a telephone number where you can be reached. You will then be contacted to schedule an appointment for your AMR installation.
