New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) is in the process of installing Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices on all Monmouth County natural gas meters.* An AMR is a small transmitter attached to your natural gas meter that will allow our technicians to simply drive by your home to "read" your meter.
The AMR will virtually eliminate the need for NJNG to access your property for meter readings so you'll no longer need to make special arrangements on scheduled read days. Your natural gas bill will reflect monthly actual readings, which means fewer estimated bills. And, you won't need to read your own meter to avoid an estimated bill.
You'll join the millions of natural gas customers nationwide who are already enjoying the benefits of this advanced technology.
In June 2009, our meter readers began following newly designed routes to increase efficiency and the number of natural gas meters read each month. We chose the summer season to implement this plan, as it will have less of an impact on your bill.
In order to accomodate these new routes, your monthly billing date may change sometime this summer. For some customers, it may even change twice. Once the project is complete, all future bills will be mailed around the same date each month.

*If your meter is obstructed (under a low lying deck, in a locked shed or garage, etc.), please click here to send us an e-mail describing your meter location. Please include the address where the obstructed meter is located as well as a telephone number where you can be reached. You will then be contacted to schedule an appointment for your AMR installation.
