The New Jersey Electric Discount and Energy Competition Act, signed into law in 1999, brought great benefits to all New Jersey energy consumers. This landmark energy restructuring legislation gave consumers the option to choose their natural gas and electric suppliers.
What Are You Choosing?
With energy choice, you can choose a company other than your local utility to supply your natural gas or electricity. You can also choose to continue purchasing your energy from your local utility. In either case, your local utility will continue to serve as your distributor, delivering the energy you need for your home or business.
What Remains the Same?
Your distributor (or local utility) will not change. No matter which supplier you choose, your natural gas or electric distributor will remain the same and continue to deliver your energy. If your new supplier fails to provide you with natural gas, your local distributor will provide you with uninterrupted service.
Will a Supplier Save Me Money?
Compare your prospective supplier's price with your local distributor's "price to compare." If the supplier's price is lower than the distributor's "price to compare," then you will save. Some suppliers may have prices that fluctuate monthly. Ask them to help you determine your projected savings.
At New Jersey Natural Gas, we believe in the benefits of energy choice for our customers, and we support your right to choose an energy supplier.
