Employee Safety

Pets
Often pets, particularly dogs, are very protective of their home and family. This often means that the most loving pet might not be so friendly to strangers, especially ones that enter your yard or home. The safety of our employees is most important to us, and we do not want to see them injured or bitten while on the job. You can help us avoid a situation like this by alerting us if you have a dog or other pet in the yard, or if your yard has an invisible fence which contains your pet.  Please e-mail us at customerservice@njng.com or call us at 800-221-0051 so we can make a note on your account. This will alert our employees to take the necessary precautions when entering your property to read your meter. 

The safety of our employees and your pets is important to us. Always make sure your pet is secure, especially on meter reading dates when access to your meter is necessary or when one of our technicians is scheduled to visit your home. If your meter is in a fenced yard, it is especially important that the dog is secured in the home on days we are scheduled to visit your home.

Driving
New Jersey Natural Gas employees are always on the road whether it is reading meters, turning on and off services, or responding to or repairing emergencies. We expect all of our employees to drive in a safe and courteous manner and hope our customers will do the same. Please take extra precaution when our employees are working on or near the roadway. Please slow down and give the crews the appropriate clearance when passing our work sites. Remember we want to work safely to keep you and your property safe.
