ENERGY STAR Pledge

ENERGY STAR Pledge

New Jersey Natural Gas has made a commitment to do our part to save energy and help protect the environment. We'd like you to join us and pledge to Change the World with ENERGY STAR.

In 2007, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asked all Americans to change at least one light bulb to a compact flourescent light (CFL)* in order to reduce the effects of global warming and save energy. Now, you can do even more.

In addition to making the switch to CFL bulbs, you can pledge to use your programmable thermostat, seal up your home with caulk or weather-stripping, utilize the sleep feature on your computer or purchase ENERGY STAR appliances. All these actions are simple choices that can make a big difference and help you save on your energy bills.

NJNG has set a goal to prevent 6,237,600 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions through employee and customer pledges, which will also help support the goals for New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program. If every American household took part in the pledge, we could save more than 110 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, more than $18 billion in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 18 million cars.

Change the world - start with ENERGY STAR.

Make your pledge today.

And kids can do their part too! Join Team ENERGY STAR and help Dr. Seuss' The Lorax protect the environment. EPA's Team ENERGY STAR empowers kids to help protect the climate through easy-to-implement, money-saving actions and provides them an outlet for sharing their passion for preserving the environment. With Dr. Seuss' The Lorax as the engaging theme for Team ENERGY STAR, kids can learn and have fun at the same time.

*Be sure to properly dispose of CFL bulbs and take caution when cleaning up broken bulbs. All Home Depot stores accept expired, unbroken CFL bulbs through their free CFL bulb recycling program. For more information about disposal and clean up, click here.
