The BPU approved our Conservation Incentive Program (CIP), which is a 3-year pilot to launch new conservation and efficiency programs to assist customers in managing their energy bills. The CIP replaces our Weather Normalization Clause (WNC) which helped cover variations related to weather. In connection with the CIP, NJNG also will begin using a Conserve to Preserve Savings Seal to clearly signal any new program or tip that will help customers reduce their energy usage and save money on their energy bills.
How will the Conservation Incentive Program help me as a customer?
You will be provided with more comprehensive information about your expected energy expenses, along with conservation tips and programs that can help significantly reduce those expenses. Expect to see more from us in the future, and look for the Conserve to Preserve Savings Seal.
How will I know about any new programs?
Updates will be provided in your bill inserts and are always available on our Web site; however, signing up for E-Tips, our free conservation e-mail service, is the most effective way to make sure you receive all updates. To sign up, visit My Account and register for My Account Information. Be sure to check the box indicating you would like to receive E-Tips.
What are the benefits of signing up for E-Tips, the conservation e-mail update service?
-- You will get all our program updates on a timely basis.
-- You will be entered in our monthly drawing to win a gift certificate.
-- Your e-mail address is secured. We do not share it with any other party.
-- You will only get messages relevant to conservation.
-- You have the right to unsubscribe at any time.
Will you be charging me more money if I conserve?
We will not be charging you more money in total. While the delivery charge may increase or decrease in future periods as a result of the change, we cannot collect for any non-weather related earnings shortfall unless we can prove we achieved offsetting BGSS savings. If we need to implement a surcharge, it will be collected on a per-therm basis from all customers in their Conservation Incentive Program group (residential non-heat, residential heat or commercial).
