Landlord Notification Program

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) offers a Landlord Notification Program to help prevent the unnecessary discontinuation of natural gas service at your rental property, especially during the winter months. By signing up for the program, we will notify you when a tenant’s natural gas service is scheduled to be turned off due to a voluntary request or delinquent account. At that time, you can have the service placed under your name for a $15 account opening fee. As the landlord, you will assume full responsibility of payment after the service has been transferred to your name. However, delinquency of your NJNG account could result in termination of the below mentioned notification agreements and/or discontinuance of service for the residence in question.*

There are three notification programs to choose from. 

  • *Full-Service Notification — The NJNG account is transferred to the landlord once we receive a turn-off request from the tenant and the next tenant does not activate service OR if service is scheduled to be turned off due to a delinquent account. 

  • *Regular Service Notification — The NJNG account is transferred to the landlord after we receive a request from a tenant to discontinue service and the next tenant has not requested a turn on. 

  • Limited-Service Notification — NJNG will notify you in writing when a tenant requests a service turnoff and the new tenant has not contacted us regarding a turn on OR if a tenant’s service is scheduled to be turned off due to a delinquent account. The service will remain off until there is a new tenant OR until the landlord enrolls in the Full Service or Regular Notification program. 
To enroll in a Landlord Notification Program, download and complete the the form, then return it via the designated fax number or mailing address. We cannot enroll you in the program unless the form is dated and signed, and ALL requested information is provided; the form will be returned to you if it is incomplete.
