Today's energy services can be tailored to meet a business customer's unique needs. By separating traditionally packaged natural gas services into two distinct services – natural gas commodity and transportation – customers can design the right energy portfolio for their businesses. This means you can choose to buy your natural gas supply separately from your natural gas transportation service. And as an NJNG customer using another energy supplier, you may benefit from our transportation services.
Our business customers can choose from three firm transportation services:
General Service Large (GSL) Transport
This service classification was designed for business customers who use greater than or equal to 5,000 therms annually. Examples of customers served under GSL Transport are laundromats, pizzerias and restaurants. Their natural gas loads typically reflect this type of classification.
General Service Small (GSS) Transport
Business customers who use less than 5,000 therms of natural gas annually best benefit from GSS Transport service. Local pharmacies, florists and gift shops usually have this natural gas usage profile.
Firm Transportation (FT)
Business customers who choose FT service must assure the delivery of natural gas to the NJNG system, and either personally manage their daily usage or have their supplier manage it. A specific automatic meter-reading device is required for FT customers.
For additional information on transportation services for business customers, please refer to the New Jersey Natural Gas Company Tariff. If you have questions, please send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Commercial Interruptible Services (IS) Transport
A "no frills" interruptible transportation service is available at a reduced rate. Interruptible customers are large commercial and industrial customers that have the ability to operate their equipment utilizing a fuel source other than natural gas. This ability to switch to an alternate fuel source when interruptions or curtailments are in effect, typically on the coldest winter days, is what sets Interruptible customers apart from other natural gas customers. A specific automatic meter-reading device is required.
