Planting for Our Future

Planting for Our Future

New Jersey Natural Gas has forged a partnership with The Conservation Fund, America’s premier conservation nonprofit, for our newest Conserve to Preserve program. We’ve given you advice about how to conserve energy, and now we're helping you do even more to protect the environment.

Your carbon footprint is the calculation of the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for which you’re responsible because of your everyday activities including transportation and energy use. CO2 is a greenhouse gas and a major cause of climate change. The average NJNG customer’s carbon footprint from natural gas usage is about 7.4 tons yearly.

For a donation of just $30 to The Conservation Fund, six trees will be planted that will absorb CO2 and offset your annual emissions from natural gas usage. One hundred percent of your donation will go directly toward planting trees in native forests across the county, including the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge in Ocean County.

Over its lifetime, each tree you plant will absorb just over one ton of CO2 from the atmosphere, helping to fight climate change, improve the condition of our air and water, restore wildlife habitat and enhance the quality of life for future generations.

Plus, for every tree you plant, we’ll plant one too – up to 10,000 trees every year! Together, we can plant 20,000 trees that will help to improve the quality of the air we breathe and the water we drink for generations to come.

For every $5 you donate, one tree will be planted along with a matching tree from us. To help NJNG's efforts, fill out a donation card and either add your desired contribution to your NJNG bill or send a check when you return the card. Completed donations cards should be mailed to:
