Conversion Questions

How long will it take to get my natural gas service installed?
If a natural gas main is adjacent to your property, the waiting period for new service is approximately four to six weeks.

Will the installation of my natural gas service line disrupt my property?
Your property will experience some disruption; however, when the crew completes the installation, they will leave your property clean and in order. Please note it is your responsibility to mark the location of all underground sprinklers, septic and oil tanks and other underground facilities you own and/or maintain, before natural gas service is installed.

Does NJNG charge to install a new service line?
In most cases, the service line is installed free of charge; however, we will perform a field evaluation to make that determination. There may be a street opening permit fee required by your township, which you are responsible for. Your marketing consultant will collect that fee from you, if it applies.

Once my service line is installed from the street, is there a charge for setting the natural gas meter?
A $15 "account opening" charge will appear on your first bill. This charge covers the cost of setting up a new account.
