Automated Meter Reading
Automated Meter Reading (AMR) electronic devices are installed on our natural gas meters in Monmouth County.*
An AMR is a small transmitter attached to your natural gas meter that allows us to "read" your meter without a trip to your premises. Each month, your natural gas bill will reflect your actual usage, eliminating the need for you to submit your own meter read. Your natural gas bills will reflect monthly actual reads, which means fewer estimated bills.
*Note NJNG may need access to your property in the event the AMR malfunctions.
Expanding the Use of AMR to Better Serve You
Convenient, Automated Meter Reading
Nearly 246,000 New Jersey Natural Gas customers already enjoy the benefits of automated meter readings. An automated meter reading device is attached to an existing meter so our crew can collect meter readings remotely — for billing purposes only — as they pass by your property. This helps ensure timely, accurate, convenient meter readings that support reliable billing data and delivery.
Now, we’re enhancing and expanding the use of automated meter reading devices to other communities to better serve you.
